HI Paul, Well it is certianly an honour to be asked about this, as I recognize my opportunity to contribute to the improvement of the education system in our world. I think that there should be a greater emphasis placed on troubleshooting, if you teach it in conjunction with theory, then it is taught early and becomes a habit. When I got out of school, I was presented with things like Ampex AG-440C reel to reel tape machines, which were an Electro-Mechanical/ Electronic wonder. I did not know what to do with a fault. I could design my way around a problem, but I could not figure out why it was not working. So if there were a change in "classical" ciriculum to be made, I would say teach some theory, apply it and then introduce a fault and have them figure out why the thing is not working right and show them how to split it in half and logically look in both directions of a circuit and then they can find faults. Otherwise when they hit the employer, they will not know what the business end of a screw-driver is. There is one lesson I keep learning over and over, things break for simple reasons, not complicated ones. I hope this helps, but please if you ask more question, (which I would love to answer) please try to give me something more specific. So what are you in charge of? Are you creating the course from the ground up? Or are you just modifying an old one? Education and Teaching has always been very interesting to me. I would love to do it someday.
