Ecch. If that's your experience, you have had a bad GP. I have much more positive experiences with my doctor (although I wouldn't claim that he's perfect) and I suspect others have too. As for naturopaths, homeopaths and other such fringe folks, allow me to express some skepticism. And in any case, don't they, like physicians, deal more with treatment than with prevention? Let me put in a plug here for the "Health Services" clinic here on campus. Their emphasis certainly includes prevention and healthy living, as well as quick, friendly, low-key, willing-to-listen attention to immediate problems. You can walk in at any time and see a nurse within minutes. There is a popular belief that health services is only available to students, but this is not true. As a staff member I have used the clinic frequently for minor problems and I have always been well looked after. On a couple of occasions I was in to see a physician immediately, when the nurse felt that was necessary. Of course in that situation the doctor doesn't know me and can only deal with the immediate problem. CAR
