Another esoteric use of troll as a noun is among cops and it predates the
internet. Many urban police departments use "trolling" as a verb meaning an
undercover [pun?] activity of obtaining solicitations from street whores,
also at times, street drug dealers. The undercover officer who does
"trolling" is referred to a "troll."
