I guess you could say I am a whitey (Whoop and Dane), but I am married to a Taiwanese. He came to the US when he was 4 so he knows both customs very well. I have seen him eat long grain rice with chop sticks, I also have seen him eat a lot of other goofy stuff including American food with chop sticks. Plus I have seen his parents eat Chinese food at home with a knife and fork. So I really doesn't think it matter to the Chinese or the Americans. As for eating at a Chinese restaurant.. I have never been to one that doesn't have the short grain sticky rice, so Mr. SS must be going to really bad Chinese restaurants. > > Now THAT is an example of a non-Asian looking stupid, not a relatively > innocent question about how to eat rice with chopsticks. And, for Mr. SS's > information, I have no difficulty eating long-grain rice with chopsticks -- > it's not a uniquely-Asian skill. >
