With credit cards, it is the firms themselves that choose to require such proof, not the government. And in fact I am rarely asked for such proof. With aircraft, it may be the government, but in fact the courts DO have to get involved if you are charged with presenting a false ID. >Same with proving you do have a drivers license when a cop >pulls you over for exceeding the speed limit etc etc etc. And if the cop thinks you are presenting a false drivers license, or that you have no drivers license, then indeed it has to be enforced by the courts. Meanwhile, none of these are germane, since unions exist to defend the rights of their members, not those who use credit cards, fly on planes or drive cars. I can imagine that AAA engages in representing drivers against changes to the laws that impact drivers in a negative way. The ACLU exists to defend 1st amendment rights regardless of other considerations. It is doing so. lojbab
