I, for one, would be willing to pay the extra few pennies it would cost to increase the wages of agricultural workers so they were making a decent living. It would not add much to the cost of your hamburger or salad bar. It might change your $3.89 hamburger to $4.15. Then, it would be worth it for Americans to work. Besides, I remember the Bracero program in California several decades ago. They said then that Americans wouldn't do the work. Yet, I tried several times to get agricultural work, but I couldn't get it, I wasn't Mexican. I was young, and needed money. There are still young people who need money, and who would work if they weren't shut out by agreements between growers and the migrant teams.
