Salt spray from the outside, water and some corrosive chemicals on the inside. On top of that there is heat that keeps all but the most expensive coatings from functioning. Yes, there are stainless steel materials that are better. You can find them on after market exhaust systems that are rather costly. That said, the lower grade stainless on my car has held up almost to your requirement. My car is closing in on a 130K, the factory mufflers are begining to go.
