Bad drivers are bad drivers period. The excuse to ban cell phones is just another way of Government trying to protect those bad drivers while punishing the average to good drivers. Instead of banning cell phone use while the vehicle is in motion, it would be better to educate people as to why, give valid reasons and examples in plain English. In a time before cell phones I remember reading articles about how some Governments wanted to pass laws concerning the changing of radio stations and fiddling with cassette tapes while the vehicle was moving, Once the automakers, insurance companies and Governments got together and had not only driving schools, but stealerships, magazines and a whole lot more run stories and articles on the "distraction caused" while driving and adjusting the radio did people start to learn. Yes there are still some accidents out there caused by someone fiddling with the radio but the rate of these accidents have gone down. If the same sort of public education was to be run again this time for correct cell phone usage it may leed to reductions. One method of reducing cell phone use while driving and to educate the driving public (good drivers as well as bad) is to adjust driving laws to reflect responsible cell phone use, if you cause an accident and it can be proven that you were using a cell phone at the time you will face stiffer fines, points etc. Snow... --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
