We had a MAC used for our business with all its investment in harware andsoftware, but we wanted something to run the educational CDRoms for the kids (no games for Dad, oh no, of course not..) I am a firm MAC believer, but we eventually went for the PC. This may not be suitable for you, but our reasoning was: 1. In the UK at least PC titles outweighted the MAC. This is changing now, but still some come out PC only. 2. Again, in the UK, the MAC is very much a business machine for publishing. PCs are for home and general business use. As the MAC is more marginal here (flame bait, but I think it is true), I was concerned that in 3 years time, there may be no MAC.... 3. Local support is available more readily 4. Perhaps the most important question that hasn't yet been mentioned. What does your children's school use? What do your friends use? We often compare CDRoms with friends with PCs and this saves poor purchases. As there is only 1 CD and you need it in the machine when running, I am assuming that lending a copy is kosher practice; but then, if we dont like it it gets deleted very immediately, and if we do like it we buy a copy. In a similar vein, with more PC literate friends, I know I can find local help when things go wrong...and they do! 5. As far as usability goes, I don't see an issue. Win95 and MACOS are very similar, and my 5 year old can run titles unaided for hours. I initally hated moving from the MAC, but I don't regret it. Then again, I am not sure that the MAC-PC situation is the same in the UK as in the USA. Hope it helps.
