I use DECNSR (DEC's ported and supported networker based product) and love it. With NSR at least, you can browse and index of files and mark what you want back, then tell it to recover them and it just tells yoU what tape it needs next (if it's not on the current tape). Very nice. You basically get a directory listing that you can browse with "ls" and you can change the "time" of the view on the directory at will. All this from whatever machine you want to restore on, over the network to the server. There's lots of other bells and whistles, like you can restore from one machine's archive onto another machine (good for moving users) and change directories, etc. mjr.
