Yes and before the 'when does the turn of the [century/millenia] thread
starts again...

Most people will be partying down at midnight Dec 31st 1999.

The pedants, scientists and some others will refuse to party until the real
turn of the [century/millenia] at midnight Dec 31st 2000.

Some of us will be partying seriously both times - probably with different
friends.

The question is, where will the best party be? Any ideas? It would make a
great sub-plot and anyway that's where I want to be that night.

The Pedantic party should be at the South Pole and involve hopping around
the time zones every hour to prolong the party!
