More RAM == more opportunity to get cache hits while searching the
history file.  As the retention period is lengthened, the history file
gets bigger, and the in-core disk cache gets worked harder.  This is
especially true for unices that has unifed buffer/VM designs, like
SunOS (ie, the disk cache size is dynamic.)

For example, I'm running a default 21 day retention on a partial feed.
My history file is about 125 MBytes long.  I'm paging pretty steadily
and can't handle more than about 2 incoming articles a second,
regardless of their size, because that's as fast I can check for
duplicate articles.  More RAM would greatly reduce the history search
time and speed up my server.
