The former.  I regularly get C news reports telling me how many
hundreds of postings in alt.binaries.* we've refused from our feed
site.

Ah, alt.sex.pictures isn't "supposed" to exist any longer, but
alt.binaries.pictures.erotica and its sibling groups do.  And are
quite active.
