Hi, what about this modification of News: In most newsgroups there are discussions over special subjects, e.g. abortion, smoking, or something like "How to take pictures of little blue flowers" in rec.photo. These discussions normally die after some days/weeks and not everybody is interested in reading these discussions. In these cases we could add an additional line to the message, something like Subgroup: flowers The Newsreader would generate a subgroup, which would have a name like rec.photo.flowers. This new subgroup could appear as a normal Newsgroup or as a folder in rec.photo. When the last message in this subgroup has expired and the folder gets empty, it is automatically destroyed. This would make finding of messages for a special subject much more easier and it would reduce the number of newsgroups. Hadmut Danisch (danisch@ira.uka.de)

Isn't that what the Subject: line is for?
