I seem to remember a couple years ago, Cherry Hill Elementary started a
dress code for the students. In fact, I believe it was a full uniform.
I've seen stories of the follow up on the change and all the stories were
positive.

The kids could go to school and learn. They did, and they are learning.

I remember in high school I was sent home because I wore slacks. That was
the time of the micro mini. I had my parents support to do this. Then the
next year there was a Slack Day for the girls. Then I graduated. The next
year there wasn't a dress code and the girls wore slacks and blue jeans
were allowed.

I guess nobody knew at the time that a No Dress Code would mean bare
midrifs , butt cracks and underwear as fashion. Also, the concept of
graduating without the basic skills of reading and writing and arithmetic
because it may make a student FEEL bad if it is madatory, wasn't thought of
either.
