THANKS Y'ALL!

You've been most helpful with your anwer on our posted questions about
RAD & DB development tools.

To our initial list of possible choices we added:
Microsoft Visual FoxPro (with West Wind Connect,
                www.west-wind.com)
        JDBCLite (www.softsyn.com/JDBCLite)
        USoft (www.usoft.com)
Java (Visual J++ or Symantec Cafe)

We've checked out all options, gathered some info (online & on the
phone)
and eliminated, one by one, the most unlikely choices.
Until, in the end, only one remained: Delphi 3 for Windows, which we
then
ordered at Borland.

This IDE was selected because 1) It is indeed a tool for RAPID
Application
Development; 2) Its builder and language (Object Pascal) are easily
understood by new programmers (although it might take a lifetime to get
to
know the whole functionality); 3) DB applications (SQL & client-server
technology) are easy to build and maintain, and; 4) Its functionality
can
easily be extended to include services over the Net (which we do not
plan
to use in the very near future)

Although our team is currently working in C++, the switch to Object
Pascal
shouldn't pose any serious problems. New programmers should be able to
grasp the fundamentals of this programming IDE, language and style more
easily than our old ways, in which we hack C++ code in an ordinary
editor
without the use of any IDE and access our DBs without the STRUCTURED
QL..

We would like to thank all contributers for their suggestions and their
advice: Although we might not have followed your specific advice, your
contributions were part of our deliberations.

THANKS!
