|WAIT! Being a Georgia Tech grad, I have to come to the aid of Georgia's
|reputation. The problem is not Georgia, it is Valdosta, GA. Okay, not
|just Valdosta, but anywhere except Atlanta. (Okay, so I am at least coming
|to the aid of Atlanta.) Atlanta is probably the most open-minded city
|in the "Deep South". You get outside the Perimeter and into Hickville, USA
|(we just call it Athens, GA), then the major prejudice comes in. If you
|are trying to start a GALA chapter, I would recommend the Georgia Tech chapter
|I spent a few years defending their existance in the GT student gov't (and
|as a frat-rat, ROTC-type in a very conservative school, you get some bruises)
|and they have met with alot of resistance over the past 4 years or so....
| ...they should be a good source of info and inspiration.

|Now if you wanna talk rough on gays, welcome to Colorado! Ammendment 2 on
|the Colorado ballot is an anti-gay bill. It would prevent gays from gaining
|any special civil rights as a minority group (I agree with this) and not
|allow them to make any claims in cases of discimination (this is garbage!).
|In effect, if I find out you are gay, I can fire you and you can't touch me.
|We can thank Colorado for Family Values for this piece of moralistic refuse.
|I wish the national press could be informed about this. They would flip.

Personally I think Colorado is generally fairly-open minded about
homosexuality...Of course, in any rural area you're bound to find
those who do not believe that everyone is equal, but as far as the
Denver/Boulder area goes, I don't see that much discrimination....

I often attend parties called Raves, which are basically all night
parties where thee's lots of techno music, acid and ecstacy, and shiny
happy people, and it is very common to see everyone loving each other
at these raves - despite sexual orientation, race, creed, etc.
Raves are a good example of tolerance - and it's more than tolerance
it's acceptance-without-hesitation.

As far as Amm. 2 goes, the national media *does* know about it and I
hace seen many reports on it. Often times, though, it is mentioned as
an afterthought to Oregon's proposed bill which is a lot stronger and
harsher. So, it does get publicity, and thankfully we do not have on
the ballot a harsher close-minded bill like the one in Oregon.

|Georgia is rather tolerant in comparison.
