	Absolutely, nONE (grin).

	True.
Actually, IBECC is also the one you see at most of the "computer"
events around town. IBECC was at the KCNC Education Expo,
InfoCom, Diskovery Computer Fairs, and at most of the last
few MICRO meetings. It also runs an "answer line" (for rumors,
modem help, BBS info, etc.) from about 9AM to 7PM (and sometimes
much later) most days of the week. (303) 426-1847.

IBECC is also the one which is working (albeit with little cooperation)
with the animal shelters to put together a network to help re-unite
pets with their owners - yes, if you watched the story on KCNC, that
	was us.

>So I asked him the question about the modem, and he answered it without telling
>me I had to spend money on their conference.

	I would hope so!
It would be nice if you wanted to show up, but people can't wait
for a month (or more) to get information. What would be the point?

GRIN: Also true. Though there have been "rumors" that other people
have claimed to have been the "founders" or "owners" or even the folks
who actually ran last year's "IBECC/FidoCon", these rumors have no
	basis in fact.

If you don't get that info right quick, let ME know!

There seems to be a LOT of confusion caused by having TWO conferences
on the same dates. IBECC/FidoCon announced the 13-16 August dates
in July of 1991; "ONE" announced their dates as "tentatively" being
August 13-16... In early September (i.e. 2 months later) 1991.

It took them until late October (or so) of 1991 to find a hotel which
would let them have those same dates...

In the meantime, well... I won't bother with garbage like that, but
let us just say it's been a case of deliberate confusion.

To MAKE it CLEAR: IBECC and ONE have NOTHING in Common, except part
of their audience. NO money is exchanged between the organizations,
and anyone who says anything to the contrary is, simply, lying.

Sorry, I *AM* associated with IBECC - I am the Secretary/Treasurer
of the group. If you have any questions, please feel free to call
us at (303) 426-1847 and someone here will be happy to attempt
	to answer them.

>I'll post any information I get, if anyone is interested.

Please do. It is about time the air gets cleared.

>Oh yes, Terry told me that IBECC is still running a two-fer (his word) for

Chortle: Yep. Sure is. 104/969 is one of our FidoNet Nodes.

>"IBECC" is running Thursday evening, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (ending late
>afternoon), has a vendors room (which is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday)

>(What they are charging, I've already said). I don't know what they will be
>charging after August 1 (their ad said $225 as well, but they seem to be
>discounting their rates).

Heck. Our purpose in life isn't to gouge people for money.
But, alas, the hotel is expensive, flying guests in (and paying their
room & board) is expensive, and just our telephone bill has been
astronomical. But, I'll make a committment right here and now that
we'll hold that "two-fer" rate as long as memberships are available,
and, if I find a way to cut the rate (and still have money to run
on for the next year - this *IS* our "fund-raising event) then I'll
	do that, too!

>"ONE" boasts John (sound-effects) Dvorak as their keynote speaker. "IBECC"
>boasts Dr. Jerry (sci-fi, and Byte) Pournelle as their keynote speaker.
>Both of them claim David (NAPLPS) Hughes.

Funny, but true. IBECC also has Thom Foulks (of "Computing
Success" - the 1991 Computer Show of the Year) not only speaking,
but doing both of his shows (Sat morning and Sun afternoon) live.

>You figure it out. When you do let me know.

If you can figure out the whole thing, you're doing better'n
	we can (smile)...

>By the way - three cheers for Nyx!

	Hear! Hear!
