seeking 1200 baud modem

Looking for a 1200 baud modem.
I had used an Andersen & Jacobsen 1200/300 baud modem
but it was a loaner. The lender had to call it in
as his office was hunting hi and lo for it.
It seemed to be very good with lousy connections.
Using 300 baud has made me realize how tremendously spoiled
I was by having 1200 baud.
Getting to the point, I am looking for recommendations on
what modems are best. I would also appreciate information
about which ones to avoid. Dealers and price info would also
be a great help.

thanks in advance.

Ace Computer (in Toronto, on Queen St. west of University)
sells Signalman Mark XII modems for $400 (as of Dec '84).

I've got one, and I'm quite pleased.
It runs at 1200 baud or 300 baud, is Hayes compatible (they say),
supports auto dial, auto answer, auto speed detect, and so on.
The only catch is that it doesn't transmit break signals.
I haven't had any trouble with it.

By the way, if anybody knows about a modification that allows
the Signalman to transmit a break, I'd be interested.
