  The  Texas county in which I live, Navarro county, is one of the
poorest in Texas and has a large large Mexican-American
population, both legal and illegal.

   Our ONE hospital, Navarro County Medical Hospital, is
losing 500K a MONTH from un-reimbursed medical bills from
illegal aliens.  They have tried to deal with the problem by
cutting costs and raising rates for paying customers, and by
using "foreign" doctors, many of whom cannot speak English
well enough to communicate with either English or Spanish
patients.  These doctors cannot work in more upscale
hospitals, and their salaries are lower.....
   Personally, I drive to the next county to use the medical
facilities there, which doesn't seem to have as big a problem.
The drive is 20 minutes further, but at least we aren't as
exposed to TB, hepatitis,  or leprosy in the waiting rooms.......
and I'm not kidding about that, either.....
