CITY WILL BEGIN MONTHLY SWEEPING
OF ARTERIAL STREETS IN UNIVERSITY DISTRICT
The Public Service Department of the city of Columbus is initiating a new
program to sweep the arterial streets throughout the University District on
the second Thursday and second Friday of each month from April through November.
The sweeping will begin in June with the even-numbered (north and east)
side of the streets being swept on Thursday, June 11, and the odd-numbered
(south and west) side of the streets being swept on Friday, June 12.
Sweeping will be conducted between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day.
Signage is being installed to remind residents to move their parked
vehicles during the hours of the sweeping.
The streets to be swept are Neil Avenue, North High Street, Indianola
Avenue, Summit Street, North Fourth Street, Fifth Avenue, King Avenue, East
11th Avenue, Chittenden Avenue, East 15th Avenue from High Street to Summit
Street, East 17th Avenue, Lane Avenue, East Maynard Avenue, Hudson Street,
West Dodridge Street and North Street.
The University District is bounded by Fifth Avenue on the south, Glen Echo
Ravine on the north, the Conrail tracks on the east and the Olentangy River
on the west.
The Public Service Department planned the arterial street sweeping program
in cooperation with The Ohio State University and University District
leaders. The department also has initiated a quarterly sweeping of all
streets in the high-density, predominantly student neighborhood east of Ohio
State. The second quarterly street sweeping will take place June 11 and 12
in an area bounded by North High Street on the west, North Fourth Street on
the east, East Norwich Avenue on the north and East 11th Avenue on the south.
