The Tara Players present

DANCING AT LUGHNASA
(written by Brian Friel)

"It is harvest time in Co. Donegal. In a house just outside of Ballbeg
live the five Mundy sisters, barely making ends meet. This is a memory
play of an Ireland of smiles and tears. Brian Friel evokes not simply the
interior landscape of a group of human beings trapped in their domestic
situation, but a wider social landscape where Christian values mingle with
pagan attachments to the seasons and the land." This play was a successful
part of the 1993 season at the NAC at three times the admission price.

"A police baton across the skull is the clearest example of 'government
interference with the individual' that I can imagine."
