The fact is, any type of mix tape or CD is technically illegal. However, Sony, et al. won't go around prosecuting every Tom, Dick and Harriet for it because they don't have the resources to do it, and they won't get any money out of it. The difference between your service and home dubbing is you're charging money for it. If you make gobs of money out of this, chances are that someone's going to take notice, and they'll decide you're worth picking on, if only to set an example, in which case you'll face criminal and civil liability. Or worse, major record labels will start recognizing home CD-recorders like yourself as a illegitimate competitor, and do the simple thing and raise prices. The time to burn 150 MP3s might be 30-45 minutes (on a 2x burner), but not more than an hour. Clearly, charging $30 per CD classifies your scheme as a profit-making venture. >And as far as I'm concerned, anybody who doesnt like the idea doesnt have to buy one, and they can >ignore the messages. I don't understand what it is with you people, you have to put your 2 cents in >everytime you get a chance. Ignoring the message: doesn't work that way. You're passing yourself off as legitimate, and that's not true. As far as the change I'm spending on the net, you spent as much by posting your offer, so I'm entitled. Cross-posting to can.legal, if there's really more to be said on this one.
