The Pittsburgh Metro weather report service that I have provided on
the machine freehold.andrew.cmu.edu for the past several years is
moving and in the process we are also getting a permanent name for the
service. Please change all scripts, aliases and so forth to reflect
the new service machine: weather.andrew.cmu.edu

Two different reports are avaliable: a current conditions report and
the full 5-day forecast with special bulletins as they are
avaliable. They are updated every two hours from 6am to 12 midnight
seven days a week. To access:

    * from the UNIX prompt:
	finger weather@weather.andrew.cmu.edu
	finger short-weather@weather.andrew.cmu.edu

    * from a WWW browser:
	gopher://weather.andrew.cmu.edu:79/xweather
	gopher://weather.andrew.cmu.edu:79/xshort-weather

If you are within the cmu.edu zephyr realm, you can also subscribe to
class message, instances weather and short-weather, both
@ANDREW.CMU.EDU. These receive the updates as they are
retrieved. Users of Andrew in particular can "rtfm weather" to get the
full scoop.

The National Weather Service information is provided by the University
of Michigan Weather Underground project and the National Science
Foundation-Funded UNIDATA project, from a data feed broadcast by
Alden/Zephyr Electronics, Inc. The Pittsburgh local service is a fast
way to access up-to-date weather information without having to contact
very heavily loaded servers elsewhere.
