John Walker will conduct the Shadyside Chancel Choir, the Shadyside
Choral Society, and full orchestra in this thrilling story of treachery
and triumph. Written three years before MESSIAH, ISRAEL IN EGYPT is
scored for double chorus, orchestra, and soloists. Handel's brilliant
word-painting brings to life the buzzing of the flies, the leaping of
the frogs, the terror of the river turning to blood, the inescapable
darkness, and the violent death of the first-born Egyptian children.
But at its heart, ISRAEL IN EGYPT is not about plague and pestilence;
triumph and thanksgiving are its over-arching themes.

explains:
> Part of the mission of Music in a Great Space is to encourage and
> nourish the art of choral music. No one is more important to that art
> than the thousands of amateur singers throughout our community. That's
> why we want to make our large choral presentations available to them at
a special price.
