But you have to buy a ticket! Even when you put yourself in places that you are more likely to meet someone, there's still the chance element of who will be there for you to meet. >[etc.] >|I have found myself someone but quite by accident and I didn't >|have to try. > >Well, isn't that nice. There's something kind of annoying about getting >advice that says, in effect, "Gee, I got lucky, so you will too!" From another perspective, the people I've met when I wasn't "trying" are the ones that have turned into lasting friends or even relationships. I know most of my relationships have also been chance encounters ranging from meeting someone in a hotel lobby to moving into a roommate situation and ending up getting involved for a time. >|I understand the use of personal ads but come on.."go out >|meet people make yourself known" if that is not your personality then >|don't do it. > >My personality type has kept me hidden behind a computer for too long. Welcome to the net Sue! ;) I've been in the same trap myself and now I working on getting outside and exploring more of the real world. But I'm not planning on giving up my internet feed! >|If you live at the library you may find someone there. If >|you are an internet freak you might find someone there. > >I am, and I might! :-) In fact, I've met a few people through >alt.personals already. I'm convinced that the most interesting guys are on >the internet. Why thank you! ;) >Listen, the only time an awesome man ever fell into my lap was when I >*was* looking for him, at a singles' party, of all things. Okay, he didn't >actually *fall* into my lap, he was sitting next to me and I got up and >almost tripped over him. (The first words I said to him were "Sorry, I >forgot you were there!") Ouch! ;) >|Come on, love is out there for everyone but if you go around >|looking for it I am sure that it won't hit you. > >You don't get anything without trying. I believe that the effort comes after you've met someone and not in the meeting. It's building a relationship, working through the differences and continuing to love each other through it all that takes the effort and commitment!
