I am so glad that most men agree about something. Really, I truly am. Quite a few studies, and all listings of violent crimes, agree that men are the most frequent practitioners of some other undesirable traits, on a scale of ten to one. But no one is likely to start a thread with the subject: DO ALL MEN COMMIT VIOLENT CRIMES? > 3. As to why, the answer is rather obvious But has been missing from this thread until your coments below. > It is well known that any under-empowered class of people will adopt > these methods and other non-direct confrontational tactics to achieve the > perferctly normal goal of achieving effective parity with the more > powerful class in their society; study the underclass and peasant > behaviours of any earlier society from ancient Rome onwards for examples > in history and legend. > 4. Precisely. Thank you. > the use of sex as a power tool - women have more power there by the > dictates of pure biology... I am not at all sure that this idea will hold up through the centuries and millenia of the future, as humankind adjusts itself to being fully responsible for its individual and collective behavior, in order to survive our new state of dominance over nature. How much of our sexuality is influenced, even formed, by our culture -- defining this the totality of our experiences with all other humans since birth? This is a rhetorical question at this point; no one is free of culture, thus no one can answer this without built-in prejudice, in my opinion. I would expect the answer to come from careful studies, but definitive examples of such studies have probably not yet been done. > and nobody, male or female, willinlgy abandons > any natural advantage in life! When group cooperation on a planet-wide scale is the only way to survive, we had better learn how to give up notions such as this. > Everybody uses what they can in the jungle of life - it ain't a mystery, folks. It is not a jungle any more. The jungle was our benevolent ancestral home, we have outgrown it. The mountains and oceans that once protected us from each other, are gone as barriers. Homicidal maniacs who killed off all the weaker folks, were restricted to their own tribe, now they roam the earth on jets, if not blowing up the jets. The old stereotypes will not carry us forward. -- Simonetta A. Rodriguez http://web.mit.edu/simonett/www/
