Yup. Minority of the male population too.

Well, I dunno. I have had far too few opportunities to observe a large
number of women closely. But since I have worked in offices where almost
everyone else is male, every work day since I was nineteen, 25 years now, the
"men in my life" is a very large number indeed. I just do not agree that
these sweeping generalities regarding such traits as honesty, etc., are
valid. It does not make sense that these are sex-linked traits. Nor that
culture bestows these positive traits upon men in ANY greater share. If
women buy into this, then we may very well prove it true in our own lives, of
course.

Actually, the response was sarcasm. I wrote it because I was incredulous
that these bald and perverse assertions about women, which have dominated
this thread, were not being challenged. Obviously, my sarcasm has bite to
it, sorry if it riled you.

I am in a male-dominated technological environment. The women here, and most
of the women I have encountered in my career, can't be bothered with these
behaviors, they are too busy being better in their fields, so they will be
accepted on par. But perhaps the environment where you are observing this is
especially overtly aggressive to women, triggering more passive-aggressive
behaviors, as noted in Terry O. Huston's explanation. If some of the people
in a setting are being beat up regularly, creating a general atmosphere of
subjugation, how else will those who feel vulnerable, those who are similar
to the victims, deal with it?
