: Unlike the new majority in Congress (if "pro" is the opposite of "con", : is Progress the opposite of Congress?) I _am_ in favor of public support : for the arts. But I've always thought that patrons who support the : arts should get what they will mostly enjoy, not what the lunatic : fringe of the arts movements have often foisted upon them. : I'm willing to approach this query with an open mind, I can sort of : think of more or less artistic approaches that could result from this : query, but I can also see something like this being paraded before : Congress as the sort of so-called "anti-art" that the "poor suffering : taxpayers" are paying for. Aaah! Flame away! Though I whole-heartedly agree with the above post (as an artist myself), I am ashamed to say that I might have something to add to this thread. Large cat scent has been found to have certain useful properties. Many tpyes of medium sized animals, such as dogs, deer, etc., have an instinctual aversion to the scent of large cats. From what I've heard, it has been used by the British park service to kep deer from maurading on forest vegetation. They've even developed an artificial replica of the scent, in order to not have to stand by the lion cage with a piss-bucket. Where you can get it, who knows. But if all else fails, go to the zoo and buy the keeper a nice lunch! Joshua (and don't forget to bring a bucket along!)
