Erm, what is your point? You urge us to vote no to the renaming of sci.chem but don't give any reason. I feel that there is sufficient distinction between analytical chemistry (how to get decent results on your HPLC, who makes equipment for photoacoustic FTIR, announcements of conferences, etc) and discussions of things vaguely chemical in nature (eg current threads on sarin, jokes and the ubiquitous 'how do I make TNT/LSD/any other 'dodgy' substance?' threads) to justify separate groups. The name sci.chem.misc will serve to highlight this distinction. Andrew Smith
