I usually don't like to get in to the PC vs Mac holy war, since I belive it to be pointless, but I just couldn't let this one go. First off, Apple's market share is closer to 10%. Secondly, this reflects the market share of all personal computers sold to all industries and does not accurately reflect the use of Macintosh computers in the University and scientific research environments. After having visited a number of national labs, universities, and scientific research organizations, based on personal observation, I would estimate that Apple's market share among the scientific research community is somewhere in the neighborhood of 50-70%. Now that Apple clones are being manufactured, I would expect the market share to grow. I think that the makers of CrystalDesigner have targeted the appropriate market. There have been Apple "death-watchers" predicting the doom of Apple for nearly two decades now, and guess what....the company is still there. ____________________________________________________________________________ Dane Spearing 505-665-1465 phone NMT-6, Mail Stop K763 505-665-8601 fax Los Alamos National Laboratory Los Alamos, NM 87545 USA dane@lanl.gov ____________________________________________________________________________ In article <32FB5CB3.3BFC@ix.netcom.com> \, UncleAl0@ix.netcom.com writes: >Ah, guys, this is absolutely wonderful except Apple hardware is about 3% >of the installed PC hardware infrastructure.
