Yep, in my experience that's true.  The sooner they can get 
themselves on those "payin the gov't throguht the nose" roles 
the better off they are.  10 years, and they're in like Flint.

I knew several wet-backs on the railroad, one had his income tax 
receipts for 10 years but the particular judge that was assigned to 
him denied his request for US citizenship.  Took him years and big 
bucks to straighten out the mess.

I learned a lot from him personally but for sure was/is an asset to 
this country.  Want/need details? ;)
