Certainly. You should tell them to whom they should complain and how
to do so effectively. They should complain, in a typewritten letter,
to the chairman of the department offering the course with cc: to
their own department chair (if different), the Dean(s) of the college(s)
involved, and the Provost. The letter should be no more than one page
and should clearly show the cc recipients at the bottom. A cover letter
to the persons getting the cc (one paragraph) might also be helpful, but
they could also hand deliver the cc to their own department chair and
make the complaint in person.

The effectiveness of the complaint will be enhanced if they are clear
about how specific changes affect their career preparations in a
negative way. It should not have anything to do with grades, only
objective measures of what is (not) being taught.

( It could be the case, of course, that the department needed you in
( the more difficult pre-med course, but why the chair did not tell you
( what is going on ... well, not all department heads are good managers.

( As to the cancellation last summer, if FSU had not done so well on the
( football field last year, there would have been *no* summer classes here.
( This past year has not been a good one at most universities.
