You would then have to hire someone to do the duties that the administrator could not do during those teaching period. In my district, the department heads are white elephants. Instead of making an administrator teach, we should require the teacher to be an administrator. By this I mean that the department head should be the one who makes the major decisions for the department. They should be the ones who evaluate and recommend. This would free up the administrator to do his/her job. Administrate. In my Eutopia, the department head does not teach; or at least teaches for only one period. The rest of the time is used for conducting the business of the department. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-= Kurt Grosshans kgrossha@radford.vak12ed.edu
