At least at this point Don't think this is being ignored. There is a brouhaha brewing about digital cable right now, wherein Hollywood is trying to disable/degrade analog outputs from digital TVs. There are also PKI protocols already extant for keeping the digital data stream secure from (say) DVD player to TV set. Worse, these protocols are designed so that if any particular appliance gets hacked, future media can refuse to play on ANY UNIT of that model - or worse, can disable "innocent" hardware.
