While torturing a flux gate compass kit with a REALLY strong magnet (within 1 or 2 inches of the Dinsmore fluxgate device), I managed to change its idea of north to east (it points east now). I could have magnetized ferrous parts on the pc board and in the case of the battery, but is there any other way I could have damaged the flux gate device? Does it have a bias field that it must maintain that I could have buggered with a very strong field? I do read this group, so post or mail, depending on your extroversion quotient. thanks. -- Dan Liddell dan@netcom.com
