I'm trying to join together two parts which make an optical device. the part is a 1 mm dia. glass tube 16 mm long which seat in a holder 8 mm long with a 2 mm dia. hole made of alodined aluminum. I adjust the tube in the correct position with true position accuracy of 1 micrometer (after applying UV adhesive to it). when I expose the part to UV concentrated light source for few seconds, I find that the tube tip had moved about 40 microns around the prior positions. I thought that it might be that the C=C double linkage which opens to -C- linkage not uniformly, cause change in molecular volume and push the tube during curing. If anyone is familiar with problems like that and can help me or refer me to someone which may help me ,please do so. Thanks Yachin Yarchi

polymer cures always with a volume change. rate depends on temperature as much as initiator (UV). non-uniform temperature causes un uniform cure rate. this not based on experience with the adhesive in question as it was not specified.
