What the heck is an "environmental job"?

If it's community organizing, then pay is indeed poor, opportunities few.

If it's scientific basic research, then you will likely work for government
  or academia, and job availability will vary by field.

If it's engineering, you may indeed have been overstocked if you were
  counting on Superfund to pay your way.  Pollution prevention planning
  might work.

If it's lobbying, I see no job or pay shortage.

If it's wildlife protection or management, you never should have expected
  an easy time of it.

Point being, too many people seem to talk about "environmental jobs" when
there really is no such overarching category.
