A 90's alternative to chaotic Mandelbrot Set viewing.

                   Managed Deepzooming(TM)
by Jay R. Hill, PhD, DEEPZOOM author.

Welcome to Managed Deepzooming(tm), a whole new way of thinking
about exploring deep into the Mandelbrot Set. The Managed Deepzooming
Plan(tm) combines all the advantages of "traditional" personal computer
zooming and network distributed zooming with important environmental
cost-saving features.

- How does it work?

Under the Plan, you obtain your Deepzooming assignments from our
suffisticated Deepzoom Coordinate Generator(tm). All of your Deepzoom
needs are met by accurate position and magnification values of your very
own personal Mandelbrot midget. No more endless panning and zooming in
a search for that magical view we all crave. No more finding yourself
trapped hopelessly deep in a tornado surrounding a Misiurewicz point.

- What's wrong with my favorite fractal program I use now?

If you like me and most other people, you are just making a few
mouse clicks here and there, only to become frustrated by a jumble of
color. Are you recieving suggestions which result in utterly ugly
and messy pictures from a bunch of haphazardly patched together .par
files from whatever network you happened to be connected to? The
result is costly duplication, inefficiency and conflict. Some .par
files may not meet your expectations, not to mention network standards,
responding to your needs with inappropriate, outmoded, or experimental
color palettes. Under Managed Deepzooming(tm), your viewing needs
are coordinated by your designated Deepzoom Coordinate Generator(tm),
which provides for your quality fractal designs.

- How do I know these aren't just a bunch of random images or a screen
filling black component?

Many of today's most efficent and highly popular fractal providers
are as concerned as we are about delivering quality Zooming(tm) in a
cost-effective way. But with skyrocketing cost of electricity both
in terms of money and the environment, we can no longer afford to have
every person on this planet viewing every midget copy of the Mandelbrot
Set. There is just not enough time and resources. We here at Managed
Deepzooming(tm) can assure that you will not be wasting time looking at
a 'pre-viewed' (used) picture. What was the question again?

- Suppose I want to see a 'pre-viewed' zoom into the Mandelbrot set?
What is wrong with viewing my best friend's deepzoom?

This is very counter productive and wastful. The Managed Deepzoom Patrol
will not look kindly on this behavior.

- Can I be assured that my Managed Deepzooming(tm) coordinates are unique?

Your personal coordinates and magnification factor are computed by our
Deepzoom Coordinate Generator(tm) using your personal ID number and
your name. A mathematical process uses this personal information
and a symbolic dynamics process to locate your very own Deepzoom.
The magnification is determined by calculating the component size by
trade secret methods related to distance estimators. It is important
to practice safe DEEPZOOMing by not giving away your personal ID number.

- Why should I want to join The Deepzoom Generation?

That is what DEEPZOOMING is all about.

Warmly,
Jay "Not tonight honey, I'm joining the Deepzoom Generation" Hill

This posting was completely intended as absolute HUMOR and should not
be taken as an attack on anyone or anyone's fine programs, gifs or
.par files! For you who may be humor challenged (you may well have
put me in yourr kill file long ago) what we do is take the exact
opposite (I love your programs and pictures) and give it a twist. ;-)

Not a joke, the program exists and is being polished up as I write...
Look in alt.binaries.pictures.fractals for example results: 04558520.gif
and 02066307.gif.

When you follow the upper left filement branch above the period 3
bud you find a sequence of midgets with periods starting with 4.
The branch, after in infinite number of left turns, ends at a
Misiurewicz point (see sig for code to compute this) with
coordinates near

-0.22815549365396181921457201409912600673739835117450803237959798108441566+
i*1.1151425080399373597457646363150140681887780904679546036274680334810409

The period 48 cardioid, associated buds and cardioids and surrounding
filements can be viewed using the following DEEPZOOM command line:

deepzoom 99999 -.22815549365396181921458337174522594168584633202 \
1.115142508039937359745738033504392908720827794353 8e-45 6e-45

The image center is in the cardioid but not at the 'center', the
mapping of the circle to the cardioid component (like 0+0i in the
original MSet). Instead, it is where all the filements seem to
be aiming, a point corresponding to -0.5 in the original MSet.
You can see why I like this definition of what I'll call the 'midget
center', when you plot this period 15 cardioid.

deepzoom 99999 -1.9999999862123215309672207934661990639759 0 8.22e-16 6.16e-16

Here the filements approach very nearly straight lines. In fact,
when you bring up the 'cursor' which is centered in the DEEPZOOM
view, the vertical line will be very close to the vertical filement.
(This filement, BTW, attaches at a Misiurewicz point corresponding
to -.22815+1.115i in the original MSet.

Warmly,
Jay "Not to night honey, I've got a midget in the cross hairs" Hill
