I am interested in hearing from anyone that is using look-up tables
for the calibration of cross hot wires and/or cross hot wires with
a third wire for temperature measurements. I have read the papers
of Meyer and Lueptow et al that follow

Meyer, L., (1992) "Calibration of a Three-Wire Probe for Measurements
in Nonisothermal Flow", Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science,
vol 5, no 3, pp 260-267.

Lueptow, R.M., Breuer, K.S., and Haritonidis, J.H., (1988)
"Computer-aided calibration of X-probes using a look-up table"
Experiments in Fluids, vol 6, pp 115-118.

I have also looked in
1) IMSL libraries for multidimensional spline interpolation
2) Numerical Recipes and the several references that Numerical
Recipes gives for multidimensional spline interpolation.

I am measuring the nonisothermal wake of a flat plate which is
thermally stratified for velocities in the 5-10m/s range.
Lueptow et al give a very good method for a X-wire calibration
via a look-up table, which I can recommend for use. Meyer
states that to extend the method of Lueptow et al to a third
dimension is a trivial matter (ha, I say).
I would use the method of Meyer, but it is less accurate at low
velocities. Meyer basically uses the method of Lueptow et al
with a linear approximation for the temperature probe calibration,
which I don't understand why if the method of Lueptow et al is
easily extended to 3-d. It can't be that computationally
expensive, can it?

Now my questions:
1) Does anyone else do this sort of calibration?
2) Does anyone have a method or reference for 3-d look-up tables that
   they can recommend?

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Please respond
via e-mail and I can redistribute if others are interested in
this same information.
