Someone in another group reminded me of a long-standing question of
mine. Are there on-line references (e.g. Science Citation Index) which
include GFD, oceanography and meterology that can be accessed via
Internet or purchased on CD-ROM. The idea is to eliminated leafing
through page after page of references.

Thanks.

The AGU (American Geophysical Union) through AIP (American Institute of Physics)
offers access to KOSMOS/PINET which apparently (I don't subscribe) offers
(among other services) online access to abstracts of research papers in Member
Society journals as well as indexes. You can pay per hour ($10-$19) or a flat
annual rate ($120). Contact the KOSMOS/PINET manager at
gnr@pinet.aip.org

If you want on-line references then it is possible to get the Science Citation Index on CD-ROM. I don't know where it comes from but your librarian should. In the U.K. there is a service run by the Bath University Computing Service, Institute for Scientific Information (ISIHELP@BATH.AC.UK) which makes the Science Citation Index available across Internet. You do all your searching then give your email address and the results are emailed to you. You have to register but there is no charge (at least in the U.

K.).
