Looking for info on scitex format

Does anyone have any detailed info on the scitex image format? I have
just such an image that must be converted to something (anything) else.
The image does not contain any header. I can read it as an RGB binary
file, but the resulting image, which should be in colour, is mostly
greyscale (by mostly greyscale, I mean that >99% of pixels have RGB values
that are almost equal such as 202, 200, 205).

What I have discovered about the scitex format is that it is supposedly
32 bit CMYK. However this file is definitely 24 bit with no compression
since the math works out as 3944 rows * 5000 cols *3bytes/pixel = 59,160,000
bytes, which is the exact file size. Are there multiple scitex formats?
What kind of colour representation scheme will give me colour with three
almost equal bytes? If you can help shed some light on this problem, I
will be most appreciative.
