I am going to be working on an X GUI project that will involve displaying maps of the world and several countries, at different scales and detail and complexity. Can anyone tell me where I can find maps in an image format such as GIF or other standard, or does anyone have what I am looking for stored away on there disk and be willing to share them with me? And/or C code drawing some basic outline maps in Xlib? Color would be best, but I'd be interested in bitone also. Thanks in advance. That is not a good solution (GIF's). They are difficult to zoom into, and separate files need a lot of space. Why not use the NASA vectored worldmap (available forexample in file Worlddatabase.lzh on many Amiga sites in Fish directories. I'm not sure about the correct number, but it's >600). The WVSD is much higher resolution than the NASA data and I believe is now available for commercial use. Forgive me but I don't remember the resolution offhand and I couldn't find it quickly. I use their Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED) and find it to be a nice product. Mail me if you are interested. -- Wallace J. and you can use ``vplot'' to display them using X. use archie again...
