Hola, soy traductor tecnico Espaol-Ingles, Ingles-Espaol con
especialidad en electronica y telecomunicaciones.

Hello, I am a Spanish-English English Spanish technical translator
specialising in electronics and telecommunications.

I would like to form an information interchange group via the WWW. I often
have to translate terms which are not part of my speciality and i would
like to have a list of suitably qualified persons available for
consultation.

geologia, matematica, computacion, etcetera. Mejor si has trabajado como

The idea is: From this moment I am available for any consultation via
email (especially in my own field). I am seeking other translators with
other specialisations, i.e. medicine, physics, geology, maths, computing,
etc,... Even better if you have worked in the relevant profession or if
you have qualifications in the relevant area, e.g. I have been a
telecommunications and electronics technician for 17 years and a
translator for 10.

tu correo electronico, dimelo. Atentamente, Pablo (Paul) Smit, Australia

The concept is that all small consultations would be for free, in the case
of large translations or consultations requiring a lot of work, the two
members of the group must make their own agreement as to where or not a
payment is to be made. If you are interested email me, I will maintain the
list and distribute it to all the members. If you dont want your email
address known by all members, let me know. Yours, Pablo (Paul) Smit
Australia.

Hi,

There is a group called Lantra--I think--for translators of all
languages. The problem with the group is that the e-mail goes 100+
messages a day, easily. For Japanese, Honyaku exists, and there may
be others. In forming your group, you might subscribe to them for a
week or two just to see how they work. I like them a lot (even though
I quit Lantra because of the volume).

I also ended up quitting Lantra long ago, cos I'm not interested in
receiving that many messages. However, language-specific mailings lists
might be an idea. Perhaps we should ask the operators of Lantra how to
install such a thing. I would love a Spanish list, for instance...
