Interesting premise.  Too bad it's totally bogus.

Maybe the only people that Pam knows in L.A. are non-natives; it always
seemed to me that those were the people who use "the" with the highway
number.  Everyone I knew always used the common names for most of the
freeways, especially the older ones.

BTW, I grew up in the LA area (Pasadena and UCLA) ... er, I guess it's
more accurate to say that I spent my first 30-odd years there.
