Now hold on. I'm from Chicago, and we name all our highways:
The Tri-state (I-294)
The NW Tollway (I90 from 294 NW)
The Kennedy (I90 from downtown-294)
The Edens (I94 from I90 to I294)
The Eisenhower (I290 from downtown-somewhere)
The Stevenson (I55 from downtown south)
The North-South Tollway (I355)
The Dan Ryan (known to frustrated drivers as the Damn Ryan,
              I90-94 S of downtown)
The Calumet Expressway (don't know)
I88 also has a name, but I can't remember it right now.

In Chicago, there are freeways and tollways (and the reason for calling
a highway (generic) one or the other depends if there's a toll).

Generally tollways are named after directions, and freeways after politicians.
