Definately pejorative. Some bozo thought it would be nice to bring five
freeways together to get folks on and off the Bay Bridge. Then you need
to allow people to go from any one of the five freeways to any other.
Next, put the junction where the most main surface streets are, so we can
add more access ramps. Add BART tracks and a station in the middle of the
structure. Mix in a major earthquake to spice up the commute, and voila
"The Maze".
Maximum height: 5 levels of overpasses.
Maximum # of ramps in 1 sq mile core: > 35
General size: 4 miles sq.

The traffic reporters seem to be bi-lingual and refer to the different
freeways by both names and numbers. Newer reporters tend to use the numbers
and as they get acquainted with the area they switch to the names.
The names least used are those for the newest freeways built in the last
five to ten years.
I-80 : Eastshore Freeway (But only until Richmond)
I-580 : McArthur Freeway (South until Hayward)
Hoffman Freeway (North towards San Rafael, name is rarely used :<)
I-880 : Nimitz Freeway (Is this still the ugliest freeway in CA)
I-980 : Grove-Shafter Freeway (This name is rarely used.)
CA-24 : Warren Freeway (Only until the tunnel to Orinda??)
And I drive through this mess every day. Got to get my head checked out :)
