Does any one have experience in fitting random data to a Gaussian distribution? A straightforward way is to formulate the problem as a NLS problem and to solve for the mean and the variance. Can anyone comment on the speed of convergence or suggest other method(s) to solve this curve fitting problem. Please email your comment to chu@csi.jpl.nasa.gov. Thanks! -- chu@csi.jpl.nasa.gov
