I am looking through the book by S. Mandelbrot "Dirichlet Series". On the
first page he defines a quantity called D the upper density of a strictly
increasing sequence of positive numbers. In the next paragraph he uses the
notation
$D^{.}$
which I have given in TeX notation. Unfortuantely he never defines $D^{.}$
Dirichlet series are not my area and I cannot decipher the meaning form the
text. If anyone could help me out I would apprecite it. Thank you.
