Hi ( this is my first posting to this group) : I am working with the second order wave equation -.... ( d = say is the partial derivative ) ( 2 2 2 2 2 ) ( d + d + d - co *d )W(x,y,z,t) = 0 ( dx dy dz dt ) My question is could I take the square root of the summation of the squares of two or more partial derivatives? It is true that I cannot work with the square root on the derivatives, but what I need that for is to factorize the above equation and later using the Taylors series unleash the squre root.
